Have you ever attended any NRA Carry Guard Training? If not, you are missing out a great deal. The training is a program which is designed to be the ultimate standard on concealed carry training. It helps anyone who carries a gun to confront the day productively as the conflict environment continues to grow.

Despite being a gun lover, I don't have much experience in group training. However, their standards are eye-catching. The first time I attended it was this year, with ten other ladies.

If you are new to carrying guns, feel free to join the team. Yes, you might feel a little odd being trained by highly experienced special ops trainers, but I assure you, you will be at ease.

Not only do you learn about guns, but the trainers push your self-confidence level to the next level. Expect a little constructive criticism and feedback to help you improve your shooting skills.

During the training, you will get time to socialize. Also, expect a lot of shooting, especially if your gun has a low magazine capacity.

Through the training, you will also learn how to shoot while carrying your flashlight. You will have new experiences that make you better. They train various skills at a manageable pace, so you don't have to strain a lot.

I recommend you to join their next training and face a new challenge each day, which also boosts your skills. You also get out of your comfort zone, which is a significant step toward personal growth.

#WhyICarry

The WhyICarry movement is a movement concerning the 2A community. I got the opportunity to join the movement on the weekend of March 17, 2018.

Most movements are dedicated to showing off their guns and styles. Nonetheless, #WhyICarry is there for people to share their reasons as to why they need guns. It is an open forum where you get to tell others why you carry your gun with you.

The hashtag attracted quite some followers. The most common reasons for carrying guns were for self-protection and for protecting their loved ones.

Some people shared their experiences wherein they were assaulted or came across a life-threatening situation but had no control over the circumstances. Others shared of how they felt their freedom and safety were at stake and decided to carry guns to regain their self-reliance.
Ladies who carry guns around aren't dangerous people. They are law abiding citizens like anyone else—it’s just that they choose to take charge of their life.

Personally, my reason why I carry is self-reliance.  However, we all have our reasons; therefore, I am not posting this to create disparities. While we are prepared to carry guns around, we are not wishing to attract the negative cases. The bottom line is that we just want to be always prepared whenever anything evil comes our way.

The first time I wanted to fly with my firearm, it felt daunting and complicated. It doesn’t have to be the same for you. Below are tips that will make it all easier for you.

What to do before flying

Visit the TSA website to make yourself conversant with the set rules. Next, visit the airline's website with which you choose to travel with.

It is quite simple since all you need to do is Google the airline's rules. For instance, if you are looking to fly with ABC airlines, just Google…"ABC firearms policy."

Go through concealedcarry.com if you plan on carrying concealed firearms. Get all the information you need about the state regarding concealed carry.

Mandatory rules

While the TSA sets general rules, different airlines have different rules. Nonetheless, there are some necessary rules like the following:
  • All firearms need to be unloaded and safely locked in a hard-sided case.
  • One must declare their firearm at the airline gate agent as one checks in.

How to secure your firearm

For the proper security of your firearm, you need to keep it in a hard sided case. Your gun should be in a locked case which is inaccessible. For better security, buy the TSA recommended case.

To make the firearm case challenging to access, consider using locks. The lock can be either a key or combination lock. For further securing, carry with you a securing cable.

Final Thoughts

Remember to store your gun unloaded. Ensure your firearm is packed by the TSA rules before arriving at the airport, and while at the airport, declare your firearm as you check in.

Upon arriving, pick you bag which may be at the carousel. If not, provide your ID and baggage ticket. On your trip back, remember to follow the above rules.
